Anne Burton

Anne Burton: piano and vocals

 

 

 

 

                       

                        

 

 She plays several other instruments but loves the piano most! Her voice has been compared to that of Manhattan Transfer’s Laurel  Masse.

 

She plays piano in the Swing Street big band, plays jazz violin in the duo Atmospherics,  is the Fiddle player in the folk/rock group Fiddlers Elbow,  and sings with the all-female Decibelles.

 

Anne performs as a solo pianist/singer, has released several CD’s and is an accomplished songwriter, arranger and  lyricist. She also teaches piano and singing.

Keith Virley: drums

 

 

 

 

Without doubt, one of the most respected

figures on the East Anglian jazz scene, Keith

began by playing popular and dance music

with big bands. He then appeared with his

own quartet at Ipswich’s Albion Mills Jazz

Club.

 

Following success with various residencies

playing with the likes of Dave Bishop, Keith

went on to provide backing for many top

British and American recording artists who

guested at the Ipswich Jazz club during the

1980‘s.

 

Keith continues to play regularly with a large

number of different musicians. He brings a

wealth of experience and talent to Body and

Soul.

 

Introductions
 

Body and Soul jazz band is based in Suffolk, East Anglia. Its members are all professional musicians; highly experienced through having played in various jazz bands, rock bands, latin bands, funk bands, dance bands, function bands, folk bands and groups. They are in demand throughout Suffolk, Essex, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, London and elsewhere in the UK.

Ross Bradbury: tenor, alto & soprano saxophone & clarinet

Bob`s musical roots are firmly entrenched in London`s rock and blues network, where he has provided vocals and harmonica for a number of bands over the years with regular appearances at the Rock Garden, Covent Garden and east London`s Royal Standard.

He has a big, powerful, bluesy  voice with plenty of grit and is absolutely full of energy. As well as singing for Body and Soul, he is also currently lead vocalist with the popular rock/pop covers band Itchy Fingers, who regularly gig in the Essex and Suffolk area.

Mick Hutton:  bass, steel pans

Multi-instrumentalist Mick Hutton has been described as “one of Europe’s finest bass  players.” His vast experience includes numerous

performances at Ronnie Scotts, international jazz festivals,  radio broadcasts, film & CD recordings, west end performances and world tours.

He toured Europe with Courtney Pine and also with Nigel Kennedy, Kenny Wheeler and  John Surman; has played with and recorded with artists like Humphrey Lyttelton, Elkie Brooks, Scott Hamilton,  Tina May, Jim Mullen, Claire Martin, Steve Arguelles, Martin Taylor, Nicky Iles, Stan Tracey, Django Bates, Al Casey, Mark Hollis (of Talk Talk) and dozens of others.

Mick  has played on various film sound tracks, including “Absolute Beginners”, and the show “Blues in the night” in the West End.

He also plays piano, the cuatro and steel pans.

He presently performs regularly at the 606 club with the Dil Katz band, has written for and recorded a CD with Shifting Sands, and leads and composes for the new Mick Hutton group.
